Helping a broken leg vs having a bad day joke. Be sad, arm fold-y goodness, have a broken leg get a party and autographs from all your friends and family.
It is a rather stunning commentary on our society that acting cruel to people in pain has become a new “normal” of behavior. Not so long ago, small villages had to band together to survive lions, snakes, bears, and tigers. There was no drive to consider people “surplus” or “marginalized” there was just an urge to get every person working for survival as much as could be done daily. Now society is so hungry for villains it shames and blames people for things they can’t control. An odd reality for sure.
